There is Water Around the Furnace

• If the air conditioner is running and there is no water coming out of the drain, the line could be clogged.
• Is the drain clogged from the evaporator coil? Remove the hose from the coil outlet and run hot water through it.
• Also clean the fitting to the evaporator coil. Be careful, you may get a lot of water from this area. Have towels ready. Pour one cup of bleach down the drain to keep mold from building up in line after the drain is thoroughly clean.
• Is the evaporator drain pan leaking? You will need to have a technician come out to check the pan. If there is water coming out of the drain line and there is water around the furnace, this could be an indication of a bad drain pan. The evaporator coil may also be out of level.

My Air Conditioner Does Not Work

• Is the thermostat set to A/C? Set the thermostat to air conditioning.
• Is the thermostat set below room temperature? Lower the thermostat setting.
• Is the switch on the side of the furnace turned on? Turn it on.
• Is the circuit breaker on? Turn the breaker off and then turn it on.
• Is the disconnect (located outside by the air conditioner – usually gray in color) pushed in all of the way? Open the door to the disconnect and push the pullout all the way in. Some disconnects have a circuit breaker. Turn the breaker off and then back on. Shut the door to the disconnect.
• Is the filter clean? Replace the filter.

My Humidifier Does Not Work

• Is the humidistat set high enough? Turn humidistat up to a higher percentage. Remember, the humidifier won’t run unless the heat is running.
• Is the water on to the humidifier? Turn the saddle valve on. This may be clogged. You could turn the valve all the way in and then turn it out to try and clear the restriction. This does not always work.
• Is the humidifier hooked up? Call to schedule a technician to hook up the humidifier.
• Is the water panel dirty? Remove the water panel and visually inspect. Do not run humidifier without a water panel. Water will run all over the furnace and could short out the furnace.

My Furnace Won’t Start

• Is the switch on the side of the furnace turned on? Turn the switch on.
• Is the circuit breaker on? Turn the circuit breaker off and then turn it back on.
• Is the thermostat set to heat? Set the thermostat to heat.
• Is the thermostat set above room temperature? Set the thermostat above room temperature.
• Is the pilot lit? Does the furnace have a pilot light? If the furnace is less than 16 years old, it may not have a pilot light. If the furnace should have a pilot light, follow the directions on the gas valve.
• Is the filter clean? Replace the filter.
