Academy Air offers a full range of services for residential heating and cooling systems including installation and servicing of air conditioning, furnaces, boilers, electric heat pumps and geothermal systems.

System Types

In additional to traditional furnaces, Academy Air installs and services high efficiency furnaces, heat pumps, and geothermal systems.

With a traditional gas furnace, a lot of heat is lost up the chimney. A high efficiency furnace uses that heat. The exhaust is so cool that a simple PVC pipe is all that’s needed for the exhaust. A high efficiency furnace can approach 100% efficiency.

A heat pump is essentially an air conditioner that runs in reverse. Heat is pumped from outside into your home. Depending on outside air temperature efficiencies can run from 200% to 410%. The disadvantage of a heat pump is that they work best when outside temperatures are not extremely cold. We recommend that a heat pump be installed with a gas furnace for extremely cold days.

For those with resistive electric heat, a heat pump can reduce your heating bill by 50% or more. It doesn’t take very long for the system to pay for itself.

Geothermal systems take advantage of the fact that temperatures underground are relatively constant. Even on the hottest or coldest day, these temperatures don’t vary. Instead of pumping heat to/from the outside air, a geothermal system pumps the heat to/from the ground. This increases the efficiency on the coldest and hottest of days. Geothermal systems can be up to 600% efficient.

A geothermal system doesn’t require an outside compressor. Not being exposed to the elements helps a geothermal system last much longer than a traditional heat pump.

Service

We service all brands, and we charge a flat fee per repair. The price quoted “up front” won’t change once we begin the job. Our factory trained service technicians are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with no overtime charges for our maintenance agreement customers.
